PA Sunday Hunting Clears First Hurdle
Senate Committee Supports Sunday Hunting
In a major victory for sportsmen and sportswomen, the Pennsylvania State Senate Game and Fisheries Committee today passed SB 147 by an 8-3 vote. The measure would remove the centuries old prohibition on Sunday Hunting in the Commonwealth. A motion made by Senator Bob Mensch to table the bill was defeated and then a full committee vote went forward. While this is just a first step in the legislative process it a major victory for Pennsylvania sportsmen, NSSF would like to thank each senator on the committee who supported of SB 147. Those who voted “no” were Senators Mensch, Dinniman and Vogel.
NSSF would also like to personally thank State Sen. Dan Laughlin, Chair of the Senate Game & Fisheries Committee, lead sponsor of SB 147, for all his hard work and dedication to this bill.
Please take a moment to contact each senator and thank them for their support of SB 147:
A reminder that Pennsylvania is one of only three states (Massachusetts and Maine are the others) with a prohibition on Sunday hunting. Pennsylvania needs to follow the neighboring states of West Virginia, Delaware, Virginia, Ohio, New York and others that have removed these antiquated blue laws from the books.
