Oppose Additional Gun Control in Texas Select Committee Meetings
After tragic murders last summer in Texas, the state House of Representatives and Senate each created their own Select Committee on Mass Violence to contemplate various strategies to prevent similar acts in the future. Unfortunately, virtually all of the focus has been on more government intervention and gun control policy, not on ways to empower more well-meaning, noble citizens to defend themselves and others. It is as if most Texas policy makers learned nothing from the heroic actions of Stephen Willeford and Jack Wilson, each saving many lives as the good guys with a gun.
It is not complicated – citizens must be their own first responders when evil comes calling. The state’s duty should be to work diligently to determine how to ensure they have the tools and skills necessary to act with the greatest efficiency and effectiveness when attacked in public. Texas should be a leader of a citizen empowerment movement, but it appears as if it is choosing to chase the same empty promises of gun control that affect the millions of law-abiding gun owners of the state, while having no effect on those intent on committing violent acts.
The two select committees are each meeting next week. Please attend and register your opposition to additional gun controls being adopted in the state. Advocate for more of the committee’s time and energy to be focused on empowering you and other good people.
