Florida: Final Week to Submit Economic Impact Comments for Proposed ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban How Could Such a Ban Impact Your Business?
The Florida Fiscal Impact Estimating Conference (FIEC)will host one more “workshop” next Tuesday, Sept. 3, with the “formal conference” to be held on Friday, Sept. 6. The FIEC is tasked with crafting a “fiscal and economic impact statement” to accompany the proposed “Assault Weapons Ban” on the ballot in 2020 (if the petition initiative is successful). If your Florida firearms business has not already submitted comments, it is imperative that you submit your comments to the FIEC immediately.
The drafted proposal seeks to ban all semi-automatic rifles and shotguns capable of holding more than 10 rounds.
NSSF® has drafted a sample letter that can be customized for your use. Click here to download the sample letter. As you can see from the sample letter, the highlighted areas allow for you to insert the information relative to your specific company. Feel free to use this letter as-is, use it as a starting point, or write you own letter entirely separate of what we’ve provided. If you have a company letterhead to submit the letter on, that would be helpful as well.
Comments can be mailed, emailed, or faxed to the FIEC. That information is provided below.

We would ask that you please share any comments you submit to FIEC with NSSF as well so we can keep those in our files if needed for future use. Your comments/letters can be emailed to Trevor Santos at tsantos@nssf.org. NSSF thanks those businesses that have already submitted comments.
This is a time for Florida firearms manufacturers, retailers, and shooting ranges to be heard. As a firearms business in Florida, you should submit comments on the fiscal impact the proposed initiative would have on your business. Include the potential for revenue and jobs loss, and any other information relating to the fiscal impact this proposal could have on your business.
