Maryland Firearm Retailers May Continue Operating During COVID-19

This afternoon, NSSF® learned from Maryland Delegate Daniel Cox that during a call between him, Governor Larry Hogan’s Office, and the Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel, firearm retailers are NOT required to close due to Gov. Larry Hogan’s recent executive order.

Gov. Hogan’s executive order prohibits large gatherings and events and closing senior centers, and closes all non-essential businesses and other establishments in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. NSSF has been informed that Gov. Hogan has directed the Maryland State Police to advise all firearm retailers that they may remain open, per the Office of Legal Counsel.

NSSF® urges all members to closely follow CDC guidelines, practice social distancing and take precautions to protect the health of their employees and customers. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as they become available.
