Washington State Update
NSSF Continues Efforts to Keep FFLs Open

Earlier this week NSSF® alerted our members about Governor Jay Inslee’s stay-at-home order and Washington’s “essential” business list.

Since our last alert, some local jurisdictions have informed FFLs they are not explicitly listed on the essential business list and should close. We have learned of some FFLs obtaining “essential” status by requesting an exemption directly through the state. If you’d like to file a request for inclusion for your individual business you can do so by filling out the form here.

NSSF will continue its efforts at the state and federal level to keep the industry open by educating elected officials on why the industry is essential during this health crisis. In Washington specifically, we’ve contacted the Governor and officially requested the firearm industry be categorized as essential.

The NSSF government affairs team is committed to updating our members throughout this national emergency. If you are ordered to shut down or receive an exemption through the state, please let us know by contacting Michael Findlay, our Director of Government Relations.
