Florida Firearm Businesses, Has Your Locality Ordered You to Close?

As COVID-19 continues its spread across the country, states and localities have begun shutting down businesses deemed “non-essential.” NSSF® has been actively working with elected officials at the federal, state, and local level, as well as government agencies, to ensure members of the firearm and ammunition industry are designated as “Essential Businesses” during this pandemic.

The state of Florida has not yet issued a “Stay at Home” executive order, but there are localities around the state that are issuing their own orders. NSSF was successful in getting Delray Beach to include “firearm retailers” as “Essential Businesses” after learning retailers were ordered to shutdown. This is just one the many examples across the country where NSSF engaged and was successful in keeping our industry operational.

If your locality has issued a “Stay at Home” order and required you to close your business, please reach out to NSSF Director of Government Relations-State Affairs, Trevor Santos, at tsantos@nssf.org.  Please include your name, the name of your business, where your business is located, and contact information. NSSF will continue working on the industry’s behalf in Florida and around the country.

NSSF urges all members to closely follow CDC guidelines, practice social distancing, and take precautions to protect the health of their employees and customers. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates.
