Washington State Legislators, Sheriffs Deem Firearm Industry “Essential”
Legislators, Law Enforcement Send Request to Governor Inslee

Earlier this week Washington Governor Jay Inslee issued a “Stay-at-Home” order closing all businesses not deemed “essential.” Unlike his counterparts in many other states, Gov. Inslee chose not to specifically include firearm-related businesses in the list of those considered “essential.”

Today, in an effort led by NSSF^®, 46 members of the Washington state legislature and 15 members of law enforcement from across the state sent letters to Gov. Inslee requesting that he amend his previous executive order and designate licensed firearm dealers as “essential businesses.”

Your NSSF Government Relations team continues our efforts to keep the industry open during this national crisis. In addition to these letters, NSSF sent the governor a similar letter earlier this week arguing why the industry is essential.

Please contact Gov. Inslee and request that he amend his previous order to include firearm-related businesses and shooting ranges in the list of “essential businesses.”
