Georgia Governor Issues Statewide Order – Firearm Industry Deemed “Critical Infrastructure”

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has issued a statewide order to further combat the spread of COVID-19. Executive Order No. 04.02.20.01, which will be in effect until April 13, requires the closure of businesses and services not considered “Critical Infrastructure.”

Consistent with NSSF®’s request, Gov. Kemp’s order contains an explicit reference to all services detailed in the Department of Homeland Security’s CISA guidance on essential workers. The guidance, as of March 28, includes “workers supporting the operation of firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges.” This important language was incorporated in the recently updated CISA guidance at the request of NSSF. Please note that this statewide order supersedes any “stay-at-home” orders issued by city or county officials.

NSSF urges all members to comply with this order, closely follow CDC guidelines, practice social distancing and take precautions to protect the health and safety of their employees and customers.
