Maryland's Emergency Order Affecting Retailers

NSSF^®’s Government Relations – State Affairs team fought to make sure Maryland’s retailers are open during Governor Hogan’s emergency order. Some politicians who have made careers of scapegoating law-abiding gun owners, were incensed the governor wouldn’t prohibit Marylanders from exercising their fundamental rights while combating infection. 
 
Both are not mutually exclusive. Retailers are following CDC guidelines, practicing social distancing and taking all precautions to keep their staff and customers safe. At the same time, we applaud Governor Hogan for recognizing the right to keep and bear arms begins with the lawful purchase of a firearm at retail. 
 
Thank you to all members who supported Governor Hogan and rejected this attempt to use this health crisis to eliminate lawful firearm sales.
