Help Repeal North Carolina’s ‘Pistol Purchase Permit’ Law Please Urge Your Local Sheriff to Support Repealing this Requirement
NSSF®, along with the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the North Carolina Rifle & Pistol Association (NCRPA) are working to repeal North Carolina’s outdated and burdensome “pistol purchase permit” law. Under this North Carolina law, law-abiding residents are required to acquire a “permit” from their local sheriff in order to lawfully purchase a handgun at retail. The applicant must appear in person with a government ID, pay a fee, and undergo a criminal background check. There are no state permitting requirements to buy a rifle or shotgun.
Only 12 other states require such a permit and most are notorious for being anti-gun, such as California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island
Please help us by displaying and circulating this flyer to your customers. NSSF urges you and your customers to reach out to your local sheriff and respectfully request him or her to support repealing the “pistol purchase permit” requirement.
