San Mateo County Supervisors Introducing Ordinance Targeting FFLs Join NSSF in Fighting
Tomorrow, June 2, the San Mateo County Supervisors will introduce an ordinance designed to limit lawful firearm and ammunition sales in the county. To conduct business in San Mateo, an FFL already must obtain state and federal licenses. If this ordinance passes, FFLs will also be required to obtain yet another license through the county and could be denied for a litany of reasons.
Make no mistake, this ordinance isn’t about public safety, it’s little more than a mechanism to prevent the lawful commerce of firearms and ammunition under the guise of public safety.
In addition to requiring a duplicative county license, the ordinance also creates buffers, requires liability insurance, dictates business hours, madidates a one-size fits all security plan, forces FFLs to sign an agreement indemnifying county officials, and prohibits Californians under the age of 21 unaccompanied by a parent or legal guardian from entering the premises – along with many other onerous requirements.
If this radical resolution is adopted, lawful businesses will be forced to cease operations and relocate as the resolution takes effect 30 days after passage.
Please join NSSF in contacting the San Mateo County Supervisors and telling them not to infringe on the constitutional rights of law-abiding businesses and Californians.
