Georgia Alert: Firearm Industry Protection Bill to Get Vote on Monday Contact Your State Senator Today in Support of HB 218
The Georgia Senate is scheduled to consider the NSSF-supported House Bill 218 on Monday, March 29th. Among other things, HB 218 adds a new section to Georgia’s Emergency Powers statute, prohibiting the governor from ceasing or limiting the manufacture, sale or transfer of any firearm, ammunition or components during a declared state of emergency.
Please contact your state senator today and respectfully urge him or her to vote “YES” when HB 218 comes to the floor for a vote.
HB 218 would also prohibit the governor from closing or limiting operational hours for any business engaged in the lawful sale or repair of firearms, ammunition and components, unless the same restriction is applied to all businesses within that jurisdiction. Additionally, HB 218 would prevent a governor from closing or limiting the operating hours of any lawful shooting range. HB 218 seeks to safeguard the firearm industry and law-abiding gun owners from future leaders who may not be as supportive of our industry as current Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp.
Contact your state senator and respectfully urge him or her to support HB 218.
