Georgia Bill Creates New Tax Incentives for Firearm and Ammunition Manufacturers, Gun Owners
Georgia State Representative Martin Momtahan (R-17) has introduced legislation that would create new tax incentives for firearm and ammunition manufacturers, as well as law abiding citizens. The NSSF®-supported House Bill 1090, which was introduced in the Georgia House of Representatives on February 1, would do the following:
Enhance the manufacturing investment tax credit for small arms and ammunition manufacturers
Provide for a new tax credit for expenses incurred by a small arms and ammunition manufacturers in Georgia related to increased production of new lines of firearms
Exempt the following from Georgia’s sales and use tax: purchase of firearms, ammunition, and firearm safety equipment; admission to firearm safety training courses and to gun ranges; initiation and membership to certain clubs or organizations for firearms training or shooting sports.
Georgia continues to lead the way in providing a great business environment for the firearm and ammunition industry. NSSF thanks Rep. Momtahan for introducing this bill in support of the industry and law-abiding gun owners. We will keep you updated as HB 1090 advances through the legislative process.
