Virginia Sunday Hunting Bill Advances from Committee

Virginia Senate Bill 8, legislation to vastly expand Sunday hunting opportunities in the Commonwealth, was approved by the House Agriculture Chesapeake and Natural Resources Committee and now goes to the House floor for a vote. If approved by the Virgina House of Delegates is will be signed into law by Gov. Glenn Youngkin. Senator Chap Petersen’s (D-34) SB 8 would open nearly 2 million acres of public land for Sunday hunting. Current Virginia law only allows those with private property or access to private property to hunt on Sunday. The Virginia Senate already gave its stamp of approval to SB 8 in a bipartisan manner.
