Urge Gov. Youngkin to Sign Sunday Hunting Bill Into Law

Voice Your Support for Senate Bill 8

Following the Virginia General Assembly’s bipartisan approval of Senate Bill 8, legislation to vastly expand Sunday hunting opportunities in the Commonwealth, SB 8 has now been transmitted to Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin for his consideration. Strongly supported by NSSF®, SB 8 would open nearly 2 million acres of public land for Sunday hunting.

Since 2014, Sunday hunting has been legal on private land in Virginia; however, this leaves much of the population without hunting opportunities on Sunday. The current law allows only those who can afford to buy or lease private land the ability to hunt on Sunday. With access being one of the greatest barriers to getting new people involved in hunting, SB 8 could help remove one of those obstacles to recruiting new hunters or retaining existing hunters, and creating opportunities for much of the population who don’t have the means to access or afford privately-owned land.

Gov. Youngkin has until 11:59pm on April 11, 2022, to act on the bill. Please contact Gov. Youngkin and respectfully urge him to sign Senate Bill 8 into law. Contact information for Gov. Youngkin can be found here.
