An Important Reminder From The ATF

ATF released the following statement on the implementation of Washington State Patrol's Secure Automated Firearms E-Check (SAFE) system to conduct background checks:
 

Hello –

Effective immediately, the SAFE generated ATF Form 4473 is no longer to be used.

Many of you may have already received the attached notification from the ATF.

We have been notified that the SAFE generated 4473 is not compliant with ATF Rule 2016-2 and cannot be used by Washington State Firearm Dealers.

We are working with our vendor to remove the generated 4473 from SAFE (as well as several entry fields that are 4473-specific), to prevent any inadvertent use of the SAFE generated 4473, however, that will take some time to complete.

The Washington State Department of Licensing Firearm Transfer Application (FTA) form is NOT affected by this change.

Our apologies for not making this determination sooner.
