Three Firearm Industry Bills Pending in Louisiana Senate
Please Contact Your Senator Today!
Three important NSSF®-supported bills helping to protect firearm industry members in Louisiana are currently pending in Louisiana state Senate legislative committees. It is critical that you contact your state senator today and respectfully urge them to support each bill.
SB 234 is the Firearm Industry Non-Discrimination (FIND) Act and is intended to discourage companies that provide essential services such as banking, payment processing, insurance and software from discriminating against firearm industry members. Large companies that do discriminate will be prohibited from entering into large contracts with state and local government. Woke companies that work to erode the constitutionally protected rights of the citizens should not be able to financially benefit from taxpayer dollars.
SB 301, the Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act, protects firearm and ammunition retailers against being assigned the new firearm-specific Merchant Category Code (MCC) intended to facilitate surveillance on those Americans who choose to exercise their Second Amendment rights at firearm retail stores.
SB 194 makes the existing local firearm preemption statute comprehensive by eliminating all local regulation of firearms enacted prior to July 15, 1985 (currently exempted) and then expanding applicability to firearm accessories and firearm manufacturing, storage and taxation.
Thanks to the leadership of Governor Jeff Landry and State Senator Blake Miguez, who is the sponsor of all three bills, this year is a great opportunity to further advance the rights and protections of law-abiding Louisianans and the businesses that serve them.
