NSSF Working with Nevada to Restore Background Check System Access

NSSF^® is aware of the extended state point-of-contact (POC) background check system outage Nevada firearm retailers are experiencing. This outage is not isolated to Nevada’s POC background check system, but is part of a larger ransomware cyberattack targeting Nevada’s state servers and websites. State officials confirmed that this “sophisticated” cyberattack was to blame for outages targeting state agency websites and internet infrastructure.

NSSF has been in direct contact with the Nevada’s Governor’s office. Officials there reassured NSSF that resolving this matter is a top priority. Progress is being made, however, the cyberattack is affecting multiple agencies across several government departments. NSSF is working closely with Gov. Joe Lombardo’s office to resolve this issue and will provide prompt updates.
