California’s AB 1127 “Glock Ban” Bill Heads to Governor’s Desk

California Assembly Bill 1127 (AB 1127) has passed the legislature and is now on its way to Governor Gavin Newsom for signature.

The bill seeks to ban the sale of new Glock-brand pistols and Glock-style clones capable of accepting aftermarket so-called “Glock switches,” which convert semiautomatic pistols into fully automatic weapons. Exemptions are included for law enforcement and military.

AB 1127 is set to take effect July 1, 2026, if signed by Gov. Newsom. Current owners of affected Glock pistols would not be forced to surrender them, nor would private sales be outright banned under the initial language. But new purchases would be prohibited.

NSSF® is closely monitoring whether or not Gov. Newsom signs the bill into law and will keep our members apprised of timely and relevant updates.
