North Carolina: Has Your Locality Ordered You to Close Your Firearm Business?

As COVID-19 continues its spread across the country, most states, and many localities, have begun shutting down “Non-Essential” businesses. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper’s “Stay at Home” Order, to which NSSF® previously alerted you, deems “Essential” those industries incorporated in the Department of Homeland Security’s CISA guidance. This includes firearm and ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, distributors, importers and shooting ranges.

NSSF has been actively working with elected officials at federal, state and local levels, as well as government agencies, to ensure members of the firearm and ammunition industry are designated as “Essential Businesses” during this pandemic. However, there are some cities and counties that have deemed firearm retailers as “Non-Essential” and ordered them to close.

If your local government has ordered your business to close, please reach out to NSSF Director of Government Relations-State Affairs, Trevor Santos, at tsantos@nssf.org. Please include your name, the name of your business, where your business is located and contact information. NSSF will continue its efforts on behalf of the firearm industry in North Carolina and around the country.

NSSF urges all members to closely follow CDC guidelines, practice social distancing and take precautions to protect the health of their employees and customers. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates.
